What do you mean by 'cheap'? Because as a major tourism and commercial centre, Paris is not a cheap place to stay, especially if you are trying to stay near the Eurodisney resort, or inside the Peripherique, the huge ring road that goes around the centre of Paris. You do have to shell out that little bit more. Try www.hostelworld.com and look for budget hotels. They won't be madly elegant, but they will be clean and comfortable, and if you're lucky reasonably quiet as well. Read all reviews before booking.

Paris always has been very expensive, but since the Euro went daft a couple of years back it is even worse. There are plenty of places to stay, but they are not cheap by any stretch of the imagination. My wife and I actually just gave up and didn't visit as planned.
