Why more important computer files are hidden?

Where are the hidden files on computer?

  • How do you see them? I know how to do everything with the .. >open "my computer" >select "tools" on the toolbar >select "folder options" >select the "view" tab >select on "show hidden files and folders" under Hidden files and folders But, how do you view them? Where are they at? i checked "Show hidden files and folders" but where do they show at? I can't find them.

    They can be anywhere, you will know when you see one becasue it will be greyed out unlike all the other folders which have color to them. If you want to see an example, there are couple under the Windows directory (specifically under system32) but don't modify anything in this directory.

They could be in any number of locations, they're not hidden in one folder, but may be in any you look in.

they all are right. you will see when you compare before and after doing something to look for the hidden files. on the other hand, you wil see deleted history when you check into the recycle bin.

Windows vista/7? The main ones that store user data are in your home folder.
