Help with Comcast DVR?

• I just got a DVR from Comcast and I am trying to set it up. My old cable box was a Motorola DCH3200 and the new DVR is a Motorola DCH3416. I am trying to plug the DCH3416 into our wall cable outlet, which worked fine with the DCH3200, but the wall outlet is a female outlet, and the cord that came with the new DVR is also female... the cord that we used with the old box was male, though. Is this normal? And how do we set up the box with this problem?

  Your new cable box/DVR uses a standard cable connections. I don't know what wire came with your specific unit, but you need a standard cable jumper wire to go from the cable outlet to the TV set. Those are available at every electronic store, Wal-Mart or Radio Shack. Your cable company will have them. I have not seen a home unit come with anything but a male to male cable TV jumper cord. This is industry standard. You can get a female cord but they are rare, a female to female connector called an F81 barrel connector is readily available to extend a cable line and this is normally how it is done. If you have the cord from the old unit it will work fine.
