Disappearing passwords in Outlook 2000 on Windows XP-Home
-
I have a reasonably new Windows XP system from COMPAQ(5 weeks old). I installed Outlook 2000 on it. Everything worked fine on my old Windows 98 system. I use YAHOO mail (POP ans SMTP) for mail (it is an extra cost item with them). The problem is that to either receive or send mail, the first time I so so after starting OUTLOOK, it ALWAYS prompts me for my YAHOO name & ID when it check for new mail. If I leave OUTLOOK up, there is no problem, but if I close OUTLOO - it ALWAYS will reprompt when I try the first time to receive mail). I never had this problem in Windows 98. Note that I ALWAYS log into Windows XP as the "OWNER" (which is the default account originally set-up.

Hi dbrown459-ga, The problem you are experiencing is a known issue with Outlook 2000 running on Windows XP/2000. The problem is caused by some incorrect information contained in the Windows registry. The solution involves backing up your registry, removing the user account information, and then re-entering your password.
