My Grand Prix makes a humming noise while driving. The sound really picks up after I shift into 2nd gear. What could be wrong?

Answer:
Stop. Check the transmission fluid. It is not easy to read this on the dipstick. The car must be running. Have good light. If this is Ok, then change the t. fluid and FILTER. The pan must be removed. A shop can do this for $100.00 or so. Make sure that you tighten the 20 or so bolts to spec. It is in inch/pounds. Make sure the shop knows this. ASK.
