Why cant people realize what were doing to this beautiful planet? Why wont they open their eyes and see the destruction they cause? It kills me so much that no one seems to care.

Me too. I don't mean to sound corny or open myself up to hateful remarks but it's actually brought me to tears many times. Some people won't even do simple things like use trash cans that they're walking right by anyways. With all that is wrong with our world, why people would still throw trash out of their car windows is beyond me.

I care ,I get frightened for my great grand daughter and grand kids, I look at the beauty of the world and I cant imagine why people are so destructive. I had the opportunity to watch Planet Earth and I was dumbfounded at mother nature. My sister always says, Walk Softly on Mother Earth,and I thank you for caring

Let's face it, you're preaching to the choir here. Unless something changes radically, the new order of things to come will not include the human race. Earth will be around long after we have departed.

I care too. Some people only think of themselves, are greedy, and really don't care about the damage they're doing. That definitely needs to change.

I'm not sure what you are referring to. What destruction are you thinking of? I get the feeling that the different answers here may be referring to different aspects of destruction. There are somethings we could change easily that could make a big difference. We all use certain resources just by being here. Almost everybody causes needless pollution to some degree. Almost everybody wastes resources to some degree. We probably don't need to be on answerbag for instance. It would be good to pick our battles. Most of the answers I've read are pretty vague so far.

I think people do this for money and because what they're doing isn't really going to affect them nearly as much as it will later generations.
