What charities make the most money?

Do you think charities would make more money if they just told us what our donated money would be spent on, rather than trying to guilt us into handing over our cash all the time?

  • Answer:

that would require them telling us that only 6 cents of every donated dollar actually goes to the cause, the rest is spent on payroll, advertising and promotion.

I still wouldn't believe them. I've seen to many news stories and exposes to the contrary. I get it that money has to be spent to advertize the cause, and I get that it takes money to run a 501c3. I get that. But corporate Lear jets?? Whisking Senators and their families off to exotic locations for free? No, thanks.....I'll keep my money and do charity MY way. +5

I agree with you up to a point about Charitys not being specific enough with where the funds go. Mainly by mail donation seekers dont tell you clearly enough how your donations will be spent because I feel they might have to say something like 25 per cent to Office costs and they dont want to have to admit that costs--maybe because it takes away from there real purpose? Most Charitys use a variety of differant trends to attract the public into supporting there programs. If you took in half a miilion dollars a month--your thinking would be different than if you only took in $2500.00 a month--dont you think? I think most Charitys do quite well/ the. Govt. does watch them from time to time. Lots of things happen that are not on CNN. have a good day.
