Odd jobs+courses on resume?

Why not have a resume internet protocol for easily adding social site contributions to an online resume?

  • A resume web service could use such a protocol to allow you to add selected Quora and stack exchange answers to your online resume for example. Quora and stack exchange could have an "add to resume" option beside each of your questions and answers.  Your online resume would pick up these changes automatically via the protocol. Tags and votes from social sites could be incorporated into your resume to better organize your contributions in one place.

  • Answer:

Quora and stack exchange certainly could (and might) expose an API to access a users answers.  With this an arbitrary application (such as a resume application) could access your answers.  With this the resume application could pull some of your answers to add to a resume whenever someone tried to access it. This isn't a bad idea, but you need Quora and stack exchange to make some changes for it to work.  The company Jobvite already lets you do this for linkedin profiles and I suspect they'll add support for Quora whenever the API is available. You don't need a new internet protocol for this.  An internet protocol is a major layer of the internet.  Its not something you should or could change for a feature like this.  See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Protocol
