Is humsurfer.com a socialbookmarking site?? how are its results indexed so fast?

Added a widget showing Google searches coming to our site that creates indexed pages with results of query. Will it hurt rank if it's not no-follow?

  • It's a bit concerning not knowing whether something you do, benign as it may be, will adversely affect your ranks. As I mentioned, we recently added a widget showing Google searches coming to our site that creates indexed pages with results of query. So basically, every time someone searches on Google and ends up on our site, it adds a link to the widget and builds a new page with the articles on our site that match the query. That new page is then indexed by Google. While it adds helpful functionality for visitors to our site, I would imagine it would also prop up the rankings for those queries so we could potentially rank higher than we would otherwise. I can set the widget links as no-follow, but I'm not sure if that's necessary. Though I'm concerned that Google may penalize my site's ranking.  Anyone have any thoughts?

  • Answer:

I'd be concerned about a duplicate content issue arising out of it.  For example lets say you have 2 relatively similar queries: best mechanical parts fantastic mechanical parts Which creates two pages and has the same articles on both of them.  Now you'd be looking at two pages which while having different titles have very similar content.  Its the same reason most wordpress blogs have categories as no follow.  So yeah, in my professional opinion no follow those pages.
