How do I stop over analyzing everything?

How do I stop Windows Installer from popping up?

  • Laptop: Sony VIAO EDIT: I already tried Windows Installer CleanUp tool. Obviously I tried googling and what not; be aware if you find a solution on the front page of google I probably already have tried it. This small box saying "Windows Installer" keeps popping up and disappearing. It all started the other day a mandatory update. I've tried practically everything. Turned my computer on and off. Installed optional updates. I went to RUN > config > set the windows installer to manual. It didn't work. I tried to uncheck it in the start up portion of that same window, RUN > config. It didn't work. Today I installed malwarebytes which scanned my computer and deleted detectable malware. I restarted my computer. Finally the pop up actually started installing. The program is called Media Gallery. But it stopped and gave me this message: "this feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click ok to try again, or enter an alternate path up a folder containing the installation package 'media gallery x64 msi' in the box below." And it gives me a box below obviously. I thought it was my SD card being inside the slot so I took it out and clicked canceled. Thought that fixed it but nope. So then it started reappearing and disappearing in a flash again. So then I found out I could uninstall the program! Yay -- so I thought. So I went to control panel > uninstall programs > Application Manager for VAIO And uninstalled it. But the pop ups still come... So I found this website: https://us.en.kb.sony.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/34087/c/65,66/kw/34087 I get to System and Security and I press VAIO Analysis Manager Settings. But the thing is... I get spammed with the pop up... The more I click it, the more I get spammed with it! Eventually it opens up but it's blank. There's a picture on the website, it has all of these words like "Information" none of that is there. It's just that same box but all white. Also one of the pop ups decided to actually start installing. But it stops and gives me this error: "Error: 1921.Service VAIO content Metadata Intelligent Analyzing Manager (VcmlAlzMgr) could not be stopped. Certify that you have sufficient privileges to stop system services." I haven't done anything else but I will edit if I do try something else. Please help! This pop up is annoying.

  • Answer:

I did a quick Google of your issue, and hit this page... http://forums.techguy.org/all-other-software/1065721-vaio-media-plus-issue.html And this is the link to the program they suggest... http://www.majorgeeks.com/mg/getmirror/windows_installer_cleanup_utility,1.html I offer no guarantees on this, but I often do this when I find a problem I haven't encountered previously.

If you have a system recovery, try restoring it to a point where everything was fine. Once its done, uninstall all the vaio apps that are installed on your system. They are pretty lame and only slows down your system. Clean your hard drive by uninstalling anything that is not needed. Then run a registry cleaning tool. Perhaps, you won't face the issue again.
