How do you remove or edit your question or answer?

What if I answer a question and get upvoted by plenty of people, and then later I change/edit my answer to a completely different one?

  • Should all those upvotes be counted? Doesn't it seem to be unfair to all those upvotes? Fun random SILLY question! I mean this is like I start a whole new belief system and people like it and start following it and then suddenly with power of EDITING I happen to change the whole system. Then what!? I know I took this really far, but it'd be fun to know different opinions! Funny/Sarcastic answers are welcome too!

    Thanks for the A2A. Here's my view, I'll keep it short - You gave them a good answer, Quorans upvoted it, now if you edit your answer for better, then well and good. But if you screw up, you'll lose credits, followers, trust, etc. It's just like politics. You come to power (you get upvotes) - you do good (a good edit) - people are likely to elect you in next elections (Quorans are likely to follow you and respect you). Imagine this - you break your promises (a bad edit) - you're least likely to get elected next time (unfollows/loss of credibility and trust on Quora).

Exactly. That is what I have asked myself many days ago. I felt Quora should have this option of notifying the upvoters when an answer is edited. However when that is case, I am sure people would see that their upvotes have been misused. So henceforth they would downvote your answer. After acquiring a good number of downvotes, your answer would be removed. I don't know whether there would be any serious action taken or not, but still you are pretty much fucked. Thanks for the A2A Mr./Ms. Anonymous.
