When to take AP economics?

How much time would it take to self-study for the AP Micro/Macro Economics exam?

  • I want to take these exams but I have like 8 hours per week to devote to that, a good background on the topic but nowhere close to taking the class and only signing up for a 5. Micro takes precedence in terms of importance to me, but I'd like to do both ideally.

    If you study diligently every week for 8 hours then I definitely think it is possible for you to pass! You could post an ad for a tutor. I am sure there is someone in your area who has passed the exam before that would be willing to help you. Eight hours weekly sounds like more than enough time to me! I self-studied for Micro after having taken Macro and I did receive a 5.       To study, I bought a textbook, workbook (plus answer keys), and an AP study guide.  I then took notes on each of the textbook chapters and made flash cards to memorize important definitions/formulas.  I also used Khan Academy for concepts that I was confused about.      I don't remember exactly, but I don't think I really spent that much time on this throughout the semester, though I did spend the entire weekend before the exam studying.    To be honest, it really will depend on your learning speed though.  One of the things that helped me was that I knew that taking notes and using flashcards really do help me understand/remember concepts.  I didn't try every single study strategy out there because I knew what worked for me.  If you're unsure of how you learn, it could be harder.
