Are there many celebrities on Twitter?

Why aren't celebrities migrating from Twitter to Google+?

  • The only "celebrities" (no, I am not counting darlings of the tech industry in this) I have seen on G+ are and Alyssa Milano (2 early adopters of Twitter as well). Why haven't more celebrities experimented with G+?

    Celebrities historically haven't been social media early adopters and Google+ will not be an exception. There are still celebrities who haven't joined Twitter like Beyonce. Google+ is much too new. To see a celeb on a new network will require one of two things: either the celebrity is personally interested in social media like say Ashton Kutcher or their marketing and PR team is up on the new social network enough that they understand how to use it for marketing purposes. You'll likely see more celebs once Google allows businesses to make brand pages and therefore marketers and publicists will be more apt to get their clients involved.

Whether by design or accident, Google+ is less of a popularity contest compared to Twitter. While Google+ is arguably a better channel, it's less prone to the narcissism and sycophancy that powers celebrity twitter accounts.

Google+ is just too new. However there are some celebrities on the site. William Shatner had a profile that was deleted and then after some bad press was put back up. Once the business profiles start up bet to see more celebs jump on because essentially they are a business.
