What is the best way to deal with Artist ID3 tags?

• Many of the albums in my music collection will have tracks whose ID3 Artist (TPE1) tags are things like "Artist (feat. Other Artist)".   It's my understanding that technically, some other tag (TPE3) should be used for the "Other Artist" tag.  How does one manage such a music collection?  I really hate going through my artist list and seeing: Artist Artist (feat. Other Artist) Artist (feat. Another Artist) Artist (feat. Some Remixing DJ) etc. How do people out there deal with this problem?  Are there good re-tagging solutions that could fix this and not totally destroy the organization of my music library? Are there some best practices for music library management software that aren't being followed?

  It's true that there are other fields for "featuring" artists. The trouble is that many music players don't display these fields. But first, let's just break down the problem... When you say: I really hate going through my artist list and seeing: Artist Artist (feat. Other Artist) Artist (feat. Another Artist) Artist (feat. Some Remixing DJ) ... are you referring to artists being related to a distinct release, causing the release to be duplicated several times with different artist names? If so, an alternative is to allow the track artist (TPE1) to remain as-is and use the "album artist" (TPE2) field to denote the artist for the release. TPE2's has become de-facto used for album artist information. TPE2 is fairly well supported. The other TPEn fields become progressively less so. If your problem can be solved with "album artist" I suggest using that.
