How does the relationship of trademark and copyright work between Shonen Jump and authors?

  Well, the authors that post on Shonen Jump have no right at all to the Trademark. The trademark belongs to the Viz media group and (hopefully obviously) you can't go and create your own website also called Shonen Jump (or even a rip off of that name, like Shonen Hop). As for who owns the rights to content posted on the site, the author does. But Terms of Use grant Shonen Jump the right to both use the material on their site and to further grant sublicenses for others to use the material; for free and forever.
