I just took my 12 boards and am planning to take aerospace engineering just for the sake of interest, but my parents are saying that there is much less scope in India. How is this field, and how are the jobs in this field?

Core jobs are less....but there are companies in India that are doing a lot of work in this field....like General Electric, Eaton, Ansys, Safron, Quest, GKN etc.

Engineering as a career is really lucrative but yes some aspects are indeed overlooked !! All the Engineering jobs are in the blooming zone as nowadays IT as well other fields are in great demand! There indeed is a myth about engineers not getting job! The companies which hire aeronautical engineers are commercial aviation companies, space research agencies, civil aviation, research centers (industrial, government and academic). IISc and few IIT's have aeronautical engineering. You can also go for higher studies to get more knowledge and to increase your pay and chances of getting into top companies of the world. You can also go for a flying course after aeronautical engineering to be a pilot.
