How to determine subnets?

If jobs were to become obsolete in the near future, how would we determine an individual's share of products and services generated?

  • Relevant question: In a world where people who previously had different standards of living due to the nature of their work are no longer required to have jobs, how can we fairly determine how individuals share still scarce resources, products, and services? Or do we need to? Robotics, nanotechnology, 3D-printing, inter-modal container transport, Internet communication, and many other modern technologies are rapidly replacing workers in the production and distribution of goods and services. Sometime in the future it is possible that people as workers will be almost completely unnecessary to produce enough to satisfy all the desires – much less needs – of a country. At that point, it would seem, jobs will cease to be the link between production and consumption. What happens then? There will be plenty of lobster for everyone, but some will be bigger than others. Who gets which? How do we determine who gets to sit court side at a championship game "live" and who must experience the event as a virtual reality? How do we determine who gets the service of a uniquely qualified individual, such as a great chef or surgeon whose services are not unlimited and who has to settle for the robotics special?

  • Answer:

The same way resources were determined prior to the industrial age and job market boom. By the value that each person brings to the table with their small business. Jobs are becoming obsolete. Not currency. Currency adjusts to inflation, but overall it stays the same.

in a world not to far away, where money is an obsolete commodity and leaders are on the street. people solve problems and inquiries at the key board of their home computer. in reward for problem solving everyone gets 50 credits per problem solved  to spend on what ever resources they need to get though life. unemployment is at 100% but wealth and happiness is also at 100% because people like helping and solving problems.. utopia at long last

Well, there's the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resource-based_economy concept. The idea is that resources are scientifically managed, and products are created according to scientific analysis of needs. There's no ownership of anything by anyone - all is shared. The is no one lobster per ten people - there's abundant food, high quality, for every one in the world....

Capitalism says that individuals who do not produce good or services of value will starve. If we have democracy, the starving masses will force the government to distribute resources based on non-Capitalist basis. i.e. a welfare state. There may be a compromise between these two extremes where the wealthy, who control the means of production, give the former working class just enough to keep them from revolting.
