How can I increase my eyesight?

What foods help or increase eyesight?

  • I was curious and wanted to know for when I get older if foods actually help or increase eyesight. I heard carrots do, is this a myth or a fact? Thanks

  • Answer:

It's a myth. While certain vitamins like vitamin A can help keep visual degeneration at bay (good for slowing macular degeneration) longer, there aren't any foods that will better your eyesight. Your visual acuity is determined by your corneal shape, which is mostly determined by your genes.

Practically anything with a lot of Vitamin A (including carrots). Here's a webpage with a list of such foods: http://www.health.com/health/gallery/0,,20680738,00.html

No foods make a large difference but DVD Princess is right. Vitamin A helps a bit, especially with night vision. It's not a myth but the effect tends to be exaggerated

What the heck is "help or increase eyesight" supposed to mean? If you can't see clearly you need an eye doctor, not strangers on the internet.
