Youtube places ads on your videos as a pre-video ad, a mid-video pop-up, and an ad at the end. you videos wont have all 3. when an ad is viewed / clicked, youtube gets a bit of profit. they take said profit, take tax, some for themselves and the rest to you. your money is put in an ad-sense account. from ad-sense, you go to Paypal and then (if you want) to your back account. any self promoting to get them more views; the better. (With ads on the websites that they have, more money inflow) when you get a mindless horde of subscribers that view your every video, you can make enough money to support yourself on just youtube.
