Do I have a 32 bit or a 64 bit CPU?

'I have an AMD Sempron VIA KT600-8237 2400 32 bit CPU AM2 base' and I am wondering if I can upgrade to a 64 base CPU on this machine.?

You can upgrade to any CPU that runs on the AM2 architecture. You'll have to do some research to determine that. Upgrading your memory would also help, unfortunately Windows 32 bit only allows 3gb of memory anyways so not much room for improvement there. But any CPU that falls under AM2 (not AM2+ because that's different). That computer however is reaching it's life limit as far as upgradability goes and effectiveness. I would go as far as to say that maybe it would just be better to leave it as it is until you are ready to get a new computer, because upgrading wouldn't change the fact that it's running on outdated and discontinued hardware.
