Is there a Mandarin colloquial equivalent for?

Is there a Standard Mandarin equivalent of the Mid-Atlantic English dialect?

  • The Mid-Atlantic English dialect was a form of English that blended the accent, vocabulary, and styles of spoken British and American English so that people on both sides of the Atlantic would find the dialect equally understandable. It was especially popular with the American upper class, theatre, and Hollywood until the 1960s. (The actors Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn exemplified Mid-Atlantic English.) Is there something equivalent for Standard Mandarin, a "Mid-Strait Mandarin" dialect (中海峽國語) that is halfway between Mainland Mandarin and Taiwan Mandarin?

  • Answer:

Yes there is, the accent spoken by Taiwanese entertainers (庾澄庆,林志颖,for example) in the Mainland.

No, it is not necessary. There are the same thing both  originated from Beijing dialect Mandarin. In fact, there is not much difference, one  can understand each other well if they speak their standard language.
