What's the new way to delete multiple pages on facebook?

Do you think the campaign by feminists to convince advertisers to remove their ads from Facebook because of the misogynist pages will achieve anything?

  • A lot of feminists have embarked on a campaign to try and advertisers from Facebook. 13 companies have dropped their adverts from Facebook as a response. Letter to huffington post. Please read this to understand the problem: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/soraya-chemaly/an-open-letter-to-faceboo_1_b_3307394.html My questions are:- 1) Is Facebook genuinely misogynist? I personally don't think they are but then why are they unwilling to delete pages that are offensive and threatening to women when they willingly delete pages offensive because of racial, religious, orientation based or any other type of discrimination? 2) Will this campaign have any effect? Is this an effective way to protest? 3) If this is not an effective way to protest, what is a proper way to solve this issue? http://thinkprogress.org/health/2013/05/28/2064461/13-companies-drop-facebook-advertising-over-domestic-violence-content/?mobile=nc "A Facebook spokesperson told ThinkProgress that content featuring battered women, rape, and violence falls under “poor taste” or “crude attempts at humor” and does not violate its policies. And while Facebook screens anti-Semitic, Islamaphobic, and homophobic hate speech, the same standards do not apply to images of violence against women. At the same time, Facebook rejected an ad about breast cancer because it showed a woman’s breast." http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2013/may/23/facebook-violently-sexist-pages-twitter-fbrape http://www.womenactionmedia.org/facebookaction/campaign-wins-updates/ Some pages are:- Teach sluts to run faster if they don't want to be raped. I love to kick my pregnant wife in the stomach when she doesn't make me sandwiches. Then there are various photos posted- extremely violent and encouraging domestic violence. Pictures showing women bleeding, their faces humiliated, pictures with captions saying I loved to beat her because the bitch didn't have sex with me. Is this behaviour supported by Facebook policies? There are specific pages where people post photos of women without their consent and then people threaten to rape them, etc.

  • Answer:

Why "feminists"? Why not just say "campaign by people with some feelings for their fellow people?" Yes, it will accomplish the removal of ads wholly from FB by companies that give a hoot that their ads are appearing on pages that espouse rape and abuse of half the population of the planet. Forget "will" - it already has accomplished this. And it accomplishes more - it identifies advertisers who don't give a crap where their ads are seen, so those of us who do have a sense of humanity can avoid them like the plague they are.
