    Hi Toby, As others have said, an OT degree will qualify you to be an OT and not anything else, although you will learn a wide range of transferable skills which might help in applying for other jobs. Job prospects vary depending on area of the country, and the OT specialism involved. Nursing is a seperate qualification and career than OT.

I see that you are located in the UK. I don't know much about the health care system there and how things work, but here in the U.S. OT's and OTA's are in VERY high demand (in fact the Bureau of Labor Statistics considers the profession a "Growth Industry" for, at least, the next 15 to 20 years in the US). My wife is an OTA and she has 'head-hunters' contacting her every other day looking to fill positions (and she's only been out of school for a year). Unfortunately, I don't have answers your other questions.
