  They're really two very different beasts. For starters, one runs the very old and well established Windows Mobile and the other has the brand new but still somewhat of a work in progress Maemo. The former is somewhat clunky but has a very large software library, while the latter is the reverse. Both phones are similar in terms of speed (Snapdragon processors are slightly slower than the Cortex A8 clock-for-clock). The HTC has a large 4.3" LCD with a capacitive touch screen and no hardware keyboard, the Nokia has a 3.5" LCD with a resistive touchscreen and a hardware keyboard. Both screens are the same resolution, but the HTC is limited to displaying 65000 colours due to the limitations of Windows Mobile, whereas Maemo can handle 16 million colours like a desktop computer can. The cameras of both phones seem similar (5 megapixel, LED flash), but I haven't seen any comparison shots yet. Size wise, both are big by phone standards, with the HTC being long and flat like a tablet, and the Nokia being fairly thick due to its keyboard. The N900 weights about 20 grams/ an ounce more than the HD2. For me, it would come down to the OS; Windows Mobile feels really antiquated, like using a computer running Windows 98, but not everyone is that bothered by it. See if you can find a store that'll let you play around with a Windows Mobile phone and see if you can put up with it.
