Assuming you mean a sate ID card, it is valid until the end of the day it expires (Midnight). You should renew your ID before the trip if you can as some businesses require the ID to be current and you may be refused entry on the day after your birthday.

ID's must be government issued. The most common forms are driver's licenses and passports. You can use you current ID up to the day it expires, but after 12am ithat day t won't be any good so don't count on using it the whole time you are there. I suggest that you go to the DMV now to get it renewed. It usually takes about a week to get a new one. In the future you should keep better track of your IDs and when they expire. The DMV should have also sent you letter about it.

All the casinos/hotels/clubs/bars/stores etc. require a VALID ID, this means not expired, if it expires on your birthday at midnight (when they typically expire), the next day it is not a VALID ID. You might be able to get in on your birthday but if its after midnight the next day, they can and will refuse you entry. They are not going to risk a huge penatly by the state, if they were caught, by allowing you in with an expired license. The clubs can and will more than likely also refuse you entry using the "paper" license that you get when you renew your license, that is a DRIVING only permit and not a VALID ID. You can use a valid Passport if you have one. But like the other said, you can renew your license before you get here and it should arrive in the mail before you get here, unless your planning on coming in the next couple weeks, then your screwed and should have thought farther ahead. The DMV/Issuing Agency notifies you about a month in advance (sometimes two) and you can then go renew your license for 4 (or what ever yours state does) years at that point and it will be valid for your trip.
