Is the Sydney dust storm related to climate change?
-
This dust storm in NSW is pretty crazy and meteorologists say they haven't seen anything like it before. Do you think it's related to climate change? How?

Answer:
I don't think it really relates to global warming just unusual strong winds, it happens rarely but it has certainly happened before it is a little more common further west in South Australia but the effect on this occasion is also happening further North in Queensland as well. http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2009/09/23/2693643.htm http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2009/09/23/2693681.htm There is a reason it's called the red center

From the SMH website: Global warming may not be the cause of the most severe dust storm to blight eastern Australia in 70 years, an Australian climate scientist says. Monash University geography and environmental science head Nigel Tapper said that, while a decade of drought and a month of strong westerly winds combined to send possibly millions of tonnes of dust from the Lake Eyre basin over NSW, Victoria and Queensland, the jury was still out on whether climate change was responsible. "We've always had dust storms," Professor Tapper said. "There's plenty of evidence that, during the last ice age, there was lots of dust being blown around the southern hemisphere, a lot of it coming from Australia. "So to that extent you can't say that it's related to greenhouse-induced climate change in the last few years. "However, one thing that you can say is that [there has been] really reduced rainfall over southern Australia, particularly over the Murray-Darling basin, over Victoria and parts of South Australia."

No. Its related to DUST! You guys go to college for 12 plus years and can't figure it out.

Of course it is related to climate change. I don't think that the meteorologists are saying that it is the result of a miracle or some other "otherworldly" phenomenon. This is why the words "climate change" have been used instead of Global Warming, since it is an effect that can be blamed on Global Warming without any real proof that it actually is in any way related to Global Warming! That way, all weather is a function of climate change and by implication is therefore caused by Global Warming. It is clever marketing..not science..as usual! It probably has nothing to do whatsoever with the Global Warming Debate. To relate it to the debate would require a level of research of historical data and climatic conditions that journalists and alarmists are unwilling to perform.

I believe they call that weather, and others might call that "living near a desert"

No idea, but I think it means we'll get more dust storms in the future. Like, dust storms will become the norm.

No it isn't. It's because the dust is racist. That's what everything else gets blamed on now. Lets add the dust as well. Oh and hurricanes are racist cuz they hit New Orleans. And people who eat white bread are racist too.

the dust storm wasn't just in Sydney, its front was 800km wide along the east coat of Australia. the dust storm was not created by climate change, but by covert military operations in the desert.
