What are a few Prosumer camcorders?

Any tapeless prosumer camcorders?

  the SD HC ones are really great never liked the tapes anyway it depends on what you are going to do with it if you want to edit a lot of stuff, don't go to HD ones( you need very powerful PC to handle them) plus its not very easy to make DVDs out of HD go to normal definition SD cams, video size will be smaller( so less SD cards, less Hard disk space, faster in editing) and for sure cheaper :-D Note: now if you want something for the future (like to keep for a long long time) so get an HD, after a while (5-10years depends where you live) HD will be the minimum and will be available everywhere, so if you look at your small res video after a while, it will be painful to the eye and you will feel the shame and loss that you didnt keep your kids party in a good quality video. but if you are going to take it for within the few months and then delete the stuff, then normal def is just fine. I always like Canon, JVC and Panasonic (Sony isn't my Favorite unless you are going for the pricey ones) go to your biggest local store, and ask them to guide you through the SD HC ones( some come with Hard Disk Drive aka Flash Disk inside, its not always a great deal) 10-15-20X optical zoom hand stabilizer ask for light if you want to shoot in night normal camcorders are not really good in taking still pics, so dont care much about it a normal point and shoot camera will be a lot better. and ask if you can get an extra battery (or a battery double the capacity ) now the most important thing is the menu try out the cam yourself and play with the menu as much as you can. you might like a 200$ camcorder , while the menu of the 2000$ one is really annoying to you. also try the zooming buttons, some expensive cams come with tiny little buttons, maybe that wont work out for a guy with big hands, also check the grip or the feeling of the cam in your hand maybe you like the heavy one more than the new thin one (which has the same specs but 200$ more ) and for me, I wont take a camcorder in green, even if it has all the specs I need and cheaper than the other ones, style also is a fact. so check by yourself. I have to say that what Little Dog said is completely right but he forgot to say that the pro cams he referred to are 3500$+ but the HF from canon and the Sony 520 have a good quality for price scale.
