Why do we use credit cards?

Would there be any reason why someone would take your wallet, but not use the credit cards right away?

  • I think someone took my wallet out of my car. However, its been two day and the credit cards show know activity. Any reason why someone would wait to use them?

  • Answer:

They aren't stupid enough to use them. Thieves know the easiest way to get caught is to use a credit card in a store with security cameras, or even online to buy something that has to be shipped. They also assume most people have enough common sense to report a card stolen right away, greatly increasing the likelihood of getting caught using it.

Usually wallets are stolen for the money in them and possibly to steal someone's ID. If your social security number is in the wallet along with your driver's license they can start getting cards issued and ruin your credit. NOTE: No one should carry their social security cards around with them. They are an important document and should be kept at home with other important documents and used only when needed. Please tell people. Hopefully you didn't have your ssn in the wallet and you shouldn't have anything to worry about.
