PSP only support some special mp4 video format, like mp4(mpeg-4 simple profile video codec, aac audio codec), or mp4(avc video codec, aac audio codec), but some old PSP is stupid, you have to name the converted video files to the right file name, then can be play well on PSP, for example if you have a mp4(avc video codec, aac audio codec) file, and want to play it well on PSP, you should rename the mp4 file to MAQxxxxx.mp4(xxxxx are any five number, such as 12345, etc.), then place the MAQxxxxx.mp4 to your PSP folder(MP_ROOT/100ANV01/MAQxxxxx.mp4), then you can play the video on your PSP.
