Led lights in my ford focus?

Why is it so difficult to focus on blue LED lights?

  • Answer:

It has to do with short wavelength of blue and violet light. Our eyes are accustomed to focusing on the visible part of the electromagnetic spectrum, but they don't focus that well on the edges of that visible part - the deep red (which transitions into infra-red) and the deep blue/violet (which transitions into ultra-violet). This effect is most noticeable when looking at the "black light" UV lamps that are used in many night clubs and in other places as light decoration. The light they emit fringes on the border between the visible violet and the invisible ultraviolet.

blue lights have a significantly different wavelength than other lights. Our eyes take in the whole scene and average the focus. The blue color falls outside of the average and appear fuzzy.

I know exactly what you mean! I thought about it the other day, theres a house down the road from me which is draped in blue LED lights. It hurts my eyes so much driving passed it.
