  The Honda XR100 R looks like a race bike, but it really isn't. It lacks good racing suspension and the engine isn't powerful enough. I would suggest you just go out and purchase a used 85cc 2-stroke, such as a KX.85. To make the XR competitive you will need to do the following: 1. After market front forks 2. After market rear shock. 3. Port and polish the intake and exhaust ports. 4. 5 angle valve job on your valves. 5. Larger cam with longer duration. 6. Roller lifters. 7. High dome piston for greater compression. 8. Larger carb. 9. Open up the air box to get more air in. I'll stop here, there are more. Those modifications are going to cost you a few grand, the shock and fork alone are going to run you close to $2000. For the that much you can get a used 85cc 2-stroke that you can put premix in, race and be competitive. I advise that you do not waste the money on the XR and dump that money into a racing 2-stroke.
