Bed Bugs, Bird Mites, Dust Mites...or Rosicia!? Did I develop allergies at 40? Please help stop the itching.?

Zam, By your description I am thinking that you have chigger bites a.k.a. harvest mites. Have you been outside much lately? The time of year is right for most places and the description of the sore seems right for them but DOES NOT seem right for bedbugs. The exterminator is just looking for some quick money IMO. Maybe take a look at a safe home spray product that is chemical free that you could spray around your place before you spend huge money on an exterminator. There is actually a bedbug spray you can safely apply around your kids, pets etc that is supposed to also work on harvest mites called BedBug Terminator by Kleen-Free that you may want to order and use in case it is either one. If the bumps are too big to be cause by, say, a negative skin reaction to a new fabric softener, AND they itch, then there is a good chance that small bugs are to blame. I've heard that bed bugs are pretty crazy on the rise in the US, and if that's what you have, you want to get rid of it ASAP. If your husband sleeps in the same bed as you, then it's strange he doesn't have bites, too. You could try switching sides of the bed and see if he gets bit, and if so, then it's pretty likely that's what they are. Smaller bumps are probably an allergic reaction to something though. I have a cousin who developed an allergy to something that's found in a lot of beauty products, including most makeup and soap, when she was in her late 30's. Good Luck!!
