Can u get wifi on an airplane?

Its starting to be seen on airplanes these days. Right now it just depends what airline and aircraft type you are on. Its unlikely it will be on your plane, but its possible. From what i have heard, within 2-3 years it will be on basically every flight.

Yes, on about a dozen flights each day. On the other 4988 or so flights, no. Check carrier for details. There are, after all, uses for a laptop that don't require a connection.

There is a small number of WiFi approved aircraft. American Airlines has some, and Alaska Airlines is introducing some. Virgin Air has some as well. Just because you see someone with their laptop open, doesn't mean they're using the internet. Most business types bring files with them they can work on while in flight. Proposals, estimates, etc. All kinds of things that don't involve going online.

Not yet, the technology might be put on planes as early as next year. I think there was WiFi before, but it wasn't that popular. Those people might just be writing documents or watching movies,eh.......

When I catch passengers trying to use their cell phones or PSPs in an attempt to receive or send a signal I go bananas. What part of "any device with an on or off switch that sends or receives a signal must be turned off and remain in the off position until we reach our destination" don't people understand? Seriously, they seem to let just anyone fly these days. I can't take it, really. I'm at my wit's end with this stuff. Sometimes it's all I can do from putting the aircraft in a nose down position...
