How do I get started Dirt Biking?

Only ppl who are in Mottocross & Dirt Biking?

  • I would love to get into the sport of mottocross/dirt biking. How much would it cost to get started? Also a list of what I need thanks!

  • Answer:

The best way to do it is to find a used bike, before going out and spending a bunch of money just to find out if you really like it. Also If you are just learning you don't want to mess up a brand new bike. LOL Also if you are buying a used bike it would be great if you have someone who knows about bikes to go with you to check it out. Remember, new or used there are no guarantees.... once you leave with it, it is yours. You will want to get a good helmet. Your brain is most important. You will also need boots, goggles and gloves. The rest you can get as you go along. As far as cost, shopping online is the best way to go for gear. There are so many different sites that have sales all the time. ball park on expenses: used bike... 2000.00 boots..... 150.00 helmet.... 150,00- 300.00 gear set on-line.... 100.00 (Jersey-Pants-Gloves) chest protector..... 70.00 kidney belt.... 25.00 Leatt.... 400.00 Uni Air filter.... 25.00 No toil starter kit.... 25.00 Tie Downs for hauling..... 10.00 Ramp for loading ..... 50.00 ( unless you are quite strong) Also expect to clean your air filter after every other ride, you will need to change your motor and trany oils after every 3-4 rides. If you get a two stroke, you will need 2 stroke oil to mix with the gas. Hope this gives you a good idea

it depends on what bike you get. or what your going to be doing, like if your considering racing or just for fun and some trails. its a great sport to be into. what your going to need first and is the most expensive is a dirt bike obviously, most of the brands cost all around the same its just the bike you want, all the people are going to tell you different on yahoo answers so i would just go to your local dealer and sit on bikes or have one of the guys help you out on what bike is right for you and what your going to be doing with it. most of the gear is optional and alot of it is mainly for the track here is a list of gear you might need for the track but you wont need all of it for just play riding. helmet goggles gloves jersey pants boots chest protector and what alot of people wear for racing now is called a leatt brace, its a neck brace that is very comfortable and will definitely be a great thing to have for racing. alot of the gear can get pricey depending on the brand or how new it is. a great site to look at some gear is Motosport.com or just google some but motosport is where i get all my parts and gear. hope this helps and definitely stick to it!
