How to make a bird cage?

My friend's hamster has a bird cage as a house and can't return it. How can she make it a hamster cage?

    I would buy some plastic organizer bins at the dollar store or Wal-Mart and zip tie them in various places on the cage so he has something to climb on. Here is a picture of one I've added to my rat cage: http://www.evergreenrattery.com/organizer.jpg You can also add other things to the cage he can climb on such as ladders, ropes, or even cleaned tree branches. He won't need to climb the bars if he has other things to climb on!

It's fine that the hamster climbs the bars. But if you wont to make it your own ( or your friend own ) just add floors or levels to it, or buy tubes and add those. There are a lot of things you could do with it. GoOd LuCk

First, why did she use a bird cage in the first place? Now, the only thing to do is to get a real cage from the pet store. Never use susitiute cages like bird cages. They are called bird cages, not hamster cages. Hamster cages are nice and neat and make sure your hamster wont escape. Any homemade cages will make it very likely that you will lose your hamster. So tell your friend that she needs to go to the pet store a buy a cage. It's not a lot, the small ones are only like $15.♥
