  • Answer:

If you want to win, you gotta be there at the 800. Everyone on here who's telling you to take it easier for the first lap is wrong. In order to win or place in an 800m, you need to be top 4 at the 400m. The only way to run an 800m is to run like your gonna win. Passive running, in the 800m is the downfall of many good runners. It's ok to be passive in the 1600m, but not in the 800m. You need to get up after it directly at the start. Start you kick with 200m-300m to go. Believe me. This is how you run/win races: Kick (start), Stick (middle), Kick (end) Kick: Get yourself in the "money". Be in medal contention Stick: Hold position, don't fall back after the kick, stick with the lead runners. Kick: When you feel it, you go and hope to God that your form holds up those last 10m of hell.
