Which is a tougher workout : Hill or beach training?

They are both tough but it would depend on the grade of the hill. Everything being equal, say 100 meters down a beach or up a hill, it would depend if the hill had a 3% grade or a 15% grade.

I think that depends on your physical fitness level and what your body is built for. Some people are endurance runners and for them I would suggest the beach, others are in it to build muscle or they like to work their calves and for that I would say hills/stairs. If you can't run for a long time I wouldn't to the beach, and if you are used to speed I wouldn't do hills.
