What is best way to hook bluegill for catfish?

    Really any of the above will work. Whole bluegill will sometimes catch larger fish. Fillets will also work on larger fish but put more scent in the water. Chunks will get smaller cats and sometimes you need to go small to get any bites. Leave the skin on obviously so the fish have a harder time getting it off the hook.

I only use the smaller ones, and I put the hood thru their back about a half inch down and just under the front of the top fin.

When fishing for catfish using bluegill or any kind of sunfish for that matter, live is always the best way. None of that cutting into chunks, fillets, or steaks bullshit. Just a lively little bluegill about 3 1/2 to 6 inches long hooked either through the nose or through the back behind the dorsal fin fished on a basic Carolina rig.
