yea that is the right ratio! is this nursery in the UK or USA? i work in a day nursery in the UK and we NEVER let a child go in any room on their own, so all the rooms should be staffed! ask the nursery manager if they are left alone because the shouldnt be? and ask the manager to look in her new room! andy concerns or questions you have, just ask the staff! all the best x

seperate rooms is a first my daycare their is seprate rooms for every class/ teacher... the kids aren't aloud to go from room to room... 2yrd olds in 1 class, 3 yrd old in another... and so on... soemtimes they combine the class but their is always plenty of teachers . the 3yrd old class has 2 teachers but there is, i believe 12 kids.

i work in a day nursery and the staff move around rooms when the children do or vice versa,no children are left unsupervised, dont worry, wait til she gets to school and there is only 1 teacher with 30 children that is when you need to worry.if you still are concerned you need to speak to the nursery manager x

When kids enter their 2 years before school, the ratios drop because they can do so much more for themselves. If it is a good nursery they will have much more structured play in the new playroom with a full curriculum in place. It would seem they do with the themed rooms. The kids should also be encouraged to do more for themselves - simple things like putting coats and shoes on to go out etc. The next 2 years are all about getting your daughter ready for school.

Your worring over nothing. Those areas will be a 'No go area' its the same at my sons nursery. He is full time, and the ratio is 6 children to 1 staff sometimes maybe more but the law is 8 to 1 which is perfectly find, they are only small. Is the nursery Ofsted? If so then they are a good nursery.

I don;t like the fact that there are rooms that are unstaffed that the children have access to. I would change to a smaller nursery if I were you.

something about that scares me.i would never let my 5yo even go into a play area unsupervised lol.i understand if thats the best the nursery can do but i think you should maybe look into finding a new nursery *good luck

That's pretty standard. In the daycare I worked at(in NC) it was 1/5 for infants and toddlers up to age one, 1/6 for toddlers up to age 2, 1/8 for two year olds, 1/9 for 3 year olds, and 1/12 for 4 year olds. I'm not saying those are the best ratios but it's legal.
