one of the best things you can do is to have him practice kicking long balls, passing with you, and taking practice shots. You can get a plastic bin, turn it on its side and have him try to kick it in. For ball control, have him dribble in and out of mazes or cones. If you don't have cones, anything that is uniformal in size will work.
