What are some good beginner prosumer-grade camcorders?

I am currently a grade 11 student and would prefer a camcorder that would take me less than 5 years at a part-time job to pay off.

Sony FX1000 or Canon XHA1 are good but they are expensive now days at £3000ish. If your passionate about video as me then its worth the price as you'll be ahead of the competition by the time your in your 20's. Otherwise go for a Canon HV30/40 as they are apparently very good plus they're cheap. the problem with them though is you wont get a chance to learn how to properly use manual settings.
