How long does it take for a baby squirrel to open its eyes?

How should I best take care of this baby squirrel?

  • My stupid stupid stupid little cousins "found" ( more likely kidnapped) a baby squirrel. Their mom wouldn't let them keep it, so they drove a half hour to my house and ...show more

  • Answer:

That's terrible! I hope whoever took him is spoken with until they understand the harm in what they did. Even when you hand raise small animals correctly, they may still end up dying. Not to mention the fact that wild animals aren't pets. If it's wild, you need to get him seen by a vet before you consider him safe to touch. Just a smart precaution. Bring him in when they do open. I know some baby rodents (if they don't have their mum) need their genitals GENTLY massaged to help them poop. Usually their mother would do this, but when you take over as Mama, you're Mama. I would also feed it more like a rat, than a cat.
