How to train for the 800m?

How do I train for the 400m dash and the 800m run?

  • I don't knw how to train for them alone. I need a schedule for each day. I'm starting from scratch. Sorry if thats to much to ask... Just answer what you can.

  • Answer:

for the 400, 1:10 is not great, unless you're a girl; then its probably good... im a freshman too, but i'm not a sprinter. i run long distance, so i don't get too much speed work and i ran a 400 relay in 1:02 at my last meet. i'm not sure how you should train for these because i never train with the sprinting portion of my track team, but when i do any speed work at all, i do interval training. i jog around the track sprinting one straight-away and jogging the other 3 quarters... this is repeated about 10 times without any breaks. the jogging part is your break. good luck.
