How can I get skunks to stay away from my yard?

why do you think they are coming around? food or water left out for a cat or dog? anything you think they are coming around for, get rid of it or move it way away. if you can, kill them. if not trap them and move them else where. call your local animal control and ask them if they can help.

i heard you can sprinkle ammonia and it keeps most mammals away. never tried it, but know a farmer that swears by it.

Coyote urine will not work. I catch skunks in my coyote traps, so I know this from personal experience. There is a food source somewhere on, or near, your property. Look for it, eliminate it, and you may force the skunks to move on. They love to eat rodents like mice and rats. They will also dig up grubs, eat dog/cat food, and trash. If this doesn't work, then you need to call your local game and fish officer. They will be able to trap them and move them away. Take this very seriously as skunks are known to carry rabies. If they are that brazen and walk right up to you, then you should call the game department immediately. Safety first!

The most important thing is to not leave anything edible outside where skunks or other varmints might find it. I don't know of anything which is skunk-specific.

try getting a big dog if the urine doesnt work.also you might try moth balls
