There are a TON of great museums that have no crowds! My favorite is the Musee de la Chasse et de la Nature: it features wonderful examples of old French taxidermy mixed in with really fabulous animal-related works of art. The curators really have fun putting the rooms together and this place is not to be missed. It's in the Marais, in the 4th arrondissement. Also: a great outdoor shopping area that used to be old industrial ruins is in the 12th arrondissement, an area more or less unfrequented by tourists: it's called Bercy Village. There is a movie theater, wine bars, shopping, a fabulous cookie store that gives out free samples, etc. The Metro stop you want is "Cour St. Emillion." Also: explore Belleville!
