Yes! But I do it all the time. Shame on me. I think I kept them in for four days once. Your eyes need to breathe dear, thats why the optomotrist (sp) tells you to take them out when you go to sleep.

It's not a good idea. Your corneas need oxygen, and wearing them to bed -- or even overwearing them during waking hours -- can cause vascularization -- the creation of more blood vessels in the eye to carry more oxygen. Which isn't healthy for your vision. I think if it happens once in a great while, it's not as bad, but when soft contacts first came out there was a lot of marketing to "hey, you can wear these 24/7" and I haven't heard any of that in years. They're your eyes, and it's important to take care of them.

Yes. Full stop. In terms of ocular health there is absolutely no benefit from wearing contacts at night, even those designed to permit it. And even those designed for it carry a small risk of infection and reaction to relative oxygen deprivation of the cornea. There's it's a matter of accepting that risk in return for the added convenience of not handling and cleaning the lenses everyday. (people opt to drive cars, and they kill thousands of people a year!) Sleeping in lenses not designed for it is simply storing up trouble for the future. Almost everyone can get away with it for a while (with no problems *showing*). But invisible cumulative damage is being done. Optometrist, retired.

O2 OPTIX are lenses that can be worn for 5 days straight without even putting it off on your eyes. so if you want to sleep with your lenses, go find an overnight lens.:)

Never ever sleep in your contacts even if they are made for sleeping.

Lol I do it for a week, so I say no. I take them out after the week and then put them in again for another week.

There are two kinds: daily contacts and extended contacts. you take of daily contacts before you go to bed, but you can leave on extended contacts while you sleep.

if your contacts are overnight contacts, no. if your contacts are not made to be slept in, there won't be enough oxygen access to your brain and you could ultimately get cataracts. sleeping one night by accident is fine, but don't do it on purpose ask ur optometrist
