If you took psychology in high school and you didn't like it then why would you consider pursuing that? A nursing degree would provide much more opportunity.

You believed incorrectly that a psychology degree will let you do many things. And undergrad degree in psychology does not have any marketable skills at all and all you could do is work in an office, as an entry level staff. If you want to be a nurse, go to nursing school directly. Do not waste any time. Getting another degree will not help you to get a job as a nurse. http://www.rn.ca.gov/careers/steps.shtml

I recommend you major in nursing! It is a great career! There is descent money in it, and it is very rewarding. You can become a nurse by either getting a bachelors or associates degree. Bachelor - 4 years, Associates - 2 years. To be completely honest, more and more hospitals are preferring NEW nurses to have bachelors. They are also looking into getting ride of the associates degree program. If you ever want to advance from being just a nurse to a practitioner, you would need the bachelors degree. A lot of nurses (especially the older ones) only have two year degrees. There is nothing wrong with that! It's just that unfortunately in the future they are looking to eliminate that option. Best wishes with school :)

Answer

just do nursing, psy is hard to get a job in unless you at least get a masters in it. if you want to study on the side till you get in a nursing program, just take some pre med like extra biology and chemistry,or do the lpn program.

If you want to be a nurse, its faster to major in it; if you majored in psych first, you still would have to go back and do the 2+ years for the nursing degree. So that saves time & money, obviously. A BSN is 4 years, an associates is about 3. Core nursing for both is 2 years/ the rest are the pre reqs and the credits needed to graduate with the respective degree.

I agree with the other answer. I degree in psych doesn't do much of anything. I'm a nursing major in college right now with a psych minor. Its fulfilling my thirst for psych and also fulfilling the logic part of my brain that says I need job security :)
