Make sure while you're at work you wear support tights (not the thick ones, they look like normal tights) You can get some cream from based on the herb horsetail which may help (could try a health food shop), but the best thing is to move, even just tip toes and drop, and stand on one leg then push your heel down to stretch the calve muscle. I do get cross that employers expect their staff to stand all day, it like a torture, long term it wont help your back either. http://support-tights.co.uk/ http://www.footdetox.uk.com/cream-for-tired-legs-p-6.html

Ok ... first things first. Make sure you have comfy shoes big hills not good for the circulation. Secondly....don't just stand still... jig, wobble legs, wsalk on spot every now'n'again but just don't stand still for too long. And drink lots of water..it'll improve your circulation. Now then ... before you go to bed take a pain killer...not too strong.... run a warm bath with a bubble bath muscle relaxer... have a good relaxing soak and go to sleep. Now when you do get a chance to sit down...it'd be a good idea to elevate your legs...just slightly above waist hight...this will help undo some of the pressure they would have been enduring throughout the day. xXx

It may help to get some orthotic inserts to put in your shoes. These are a bit more expensive than your standard Dr. Schols, but well worth the money, especially if you have to stand on your feet all day. Try to walk around a bit more as this gets your blood flowing in your legs. I agree with the notion of taking a bath before bed to soothe your muscles. You can also do some gentle stretches after your bath to loosen everything up.

IF YOU LIKE THE JOB TRY SHIFTING FROM ONE LEG TO THE OTHER. ALSO, CONSIDER A TALL STOOL.

When you are busy your mind isn't thinking about your body, it's focussed on the task. Have your feet checked out by a pediotrist. Your feet affect your stance which affects your knees which affects your hips, back etc etc etc. You may find that you need better arch support. Try a different pair of shoes. Keep fashion out of your head and go for a really comfortable pair. Keep in mind brands like Earth, Clarke's and Doc Martins for dress shoes and then running shoe brands if you can/want to. Also, just before you go to bed do 15 minutes of yoga stretches, focussing on the legs. Just like you need a warm up before sports, you need a cool down to relax tense or overly active muscles.

my doctor told me to take turns propping my foot up on something maybe a 10" block or thick book. this takes the load off of your legs and your back. before going to bed stretch your legs. it will hurt some but it helps me

I would try to sleep with a pillow between my legs. This will help your kness and your hips relax while you are sleeping. Also not sure of your job but if you could try to do some simple stretches every hour or so and maybe a couple free squats. Just something to help the blood flow a little while you are standing still. Best of luck!

have a hot bath every night or just get a different job where you dont have to stand all the time

GO tell your doctor and ask for some muscle relaxors, they'll help. If you want to go the non prescription way just take some type of pain relievor(but in all truth thats probably not something you want to do every night, I'd go with the doctor thing)

I would take an evening walk every night to see if exercise might clear it up. Walk about 1 mile. Sounds like you need to get a little circulation going in your legs and strengthen your muscles.
