Answer:
I've worked with Vector for 6 years. I just want to clarify - the pay is not hourly, and it's never advertised hourly. There is a guaranteed base pay per appointment so the pay is per appointment. It's guaranteed, so you get paid even if you don't sell. Vector does this to make sure that sales reps are low pressure- high pressure sales doesn't work. Is it a hard job? I think that's all relative. Before this job I had been a babysitter, a bartender, and I had worked in an ice cream store. All of those jobs had hard parts to them, and easy parts. The hardest part is probably time management. But selling the product itself is pretty easy, and really fun. The product itself is really good, so I have always felt really good about what I do for work. I could sell anything, so I think I am lucky to get to sell something good :) I didn't find getting appointments hard- the customers know that you're paid even if they don't buy, so they're happy to have you over. As for the pay, that varies depending on how hard you work. If you don't do appointments, you don't get paid. I sort of think of it like any job though- if I don't work, I won't get paid :) Hope that helps!

I think everybody has a different experience with Vector. Mine was fine until it came time for me to get paid. I was working for Vector in July(2012) and still have not received a check from them. I called the manager of the office many times and I am always given the run around. Taking the job at Vector is a risk because some people are very successful with it while they scam others.

"Just a small town girl" is right. Unfortunately, most marketing companies function this way. I interviewed for one (BGE Marketing) and shadowed them for a day. they took a bunch of fake name brand products in the back of their truck and sold them to random people in stores and shopping centers for cheap. They would totally ignore the signs that say "No Soliciting" and would even go through the back door of buildings to get in. Then they would smoke and curse and make fun of the people they just sold to. The rule of thumb is, if it has "Marketing" in the name, it's not a place you want to be. Not that marketing is bad, but that it's so saturated with unethical companies. It's like a group of people got together and said "Hey, what can we buy in bulk? Flashlights? Ok well let's put a name brand on that, how bout LG? And make the description really convincing. How much will it cost us? 50 cents each? Perfect. Let's hire a bunch of schmucks to go around peddling these at $5/each and we'll pay them $2 each and keep the rest. "
