1.) Self directed teams. Everyone wants to be in control of their own destiny. People will work longer hours and work harder if they feel that the path is one that they charted. Tell them what the goal is and ask them how we're going to get there. You may be surprised at their creative solutions. 2.) Ask your staff to help you formulate an incentive plan. Different people are motivated by different things. Some want recognition, others just want cash. If your staff are all glory-seekers, a cash bonus won't make a big difference. Ask each of them what motivates them. Many salespeople are agressive and just want to come out on top-it only barely matters what the prize is-they just want to be the winner. Competetive incentive plans may work the best for you. I would still inquire with each person; you may find a way to combine several motivating factors into one program. The F.I.S.H. program mentioned above is also awesome.

In order to tell you how to motivate your sales staff, I would have to know what your product is. Different products are marketed in different ways. You didn't tell us about your market segment. I would hope it is the Senior and Disabled population, we're a real good group to market product to.
